Overview

Download the SAPCAR executable, which is necessary to unpack SAR archives, from any Installation Kernel CD or from the SAP Software Download Center. On the Support Packages & Patches tab click: A-Z Alphabetical List of Products S SAPCAR SAPCAR (latest version).

This document is not intended to replace the SAP standard documentation. It provides an easy-to-use step-by-step explanation on how to install a test environment.

  • Platform is Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard / MaxDB

  • Perform initial configuration to prepare SAP Mobile Documents installation

These are the steps that are described in detail in this article:

Proceed with the navigation to “SAP NetWeaver” - “SAP NetWeaver 7.4”

Select “Installation and Upgrade”.

Then select the proper platform, in our case “Microsoft Windows” and then “MaxDB (SAPDB)”

Scroll to the bottom of the page and download all files with the following media number:

(Note: This documentation was produced with 7.4 SR1 - for later versions, just choose the appropriate entries)

51046952 (RDBMS MaxDB 7.9)
Files 1 to 3: 1 EXE, 2 RAR files

51047454 (NW 7.4 SR1):
Files 1 to 7: 1 EXE, 6 RAR files

After download, extract all packages (to unzip the RAR files, start the EXE file).

You download the SWPM*.SAR file from SAP Service Marketplace at:

Hint: In case you get the information, that Swap Size condition is not met, you can follow the instructions to increase virtual memory.

Click on “Next” to continue.

In case you have at least one condition that is not met, a popup reminds you of this.

You now have the option to either correct the issue or continue without any changes.

As the installation takes a while, it is a good point to either go for lunch, do something else or just go home (without shutting down the system where the installation runs on of course).

In normal cases, the installation runs through without issues, and you should see the summary screen at the end.

Click OK if this is the case.

In case of issues, “Show Details” provides you some information what went wrong during the installation.

2.3 Installation Check

After the successful installation, there are several ways to check if your system is up and running. Here are a few (providing you already with some helpful tools you might use at a later time).

Medal of honor airborne. On a Windows platform, you find the SAP Microsoft Management Console (MMC) on the desktop.

With the MMC, you have an overview of the system and can perform basic tasks, like starting and stopping of the system.

On non-Windows systems, you might access the Web MMC via the URL http://localhost:50013.

It provides almost the same features as the SAP MMC.

Keep in mind that the Web MMC is accessible only from the local host by default due to security reasons. It is possible to change this.

You can also just access the start page of your system via http://localhost:50000.
